If you’ve ever felt like change is harder than it ā€œshouldā€ be, here’s the truth: your brain is wired to love routine. Which means rewriting habits, stories, or behaviors is always going to feel uncomfortable.

That’s why I wanted to share a simple framework I use with all my clients: the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change. It outlines the 5 stages of change we all go through:

  1. Pre-contemplation – You don’t see the problem yet
  2. Contemplation – You see the problem, but don’t know the solution
  3. Preparation – You’re evaluating options (hello, free webinars & downloads!)
  4. Action – You’re actively working toward the solution
  5. Maintenance – The change becomes easier and more routine

And here’s the kicker: relapse can happen at any stage. But that’s not failure, it’s part of the process. The key is to miss it and move on.
